Crimea-Congo hemorrhagic fever

  • Since this disease, Crimea-Congo hemorrhagic fever, is a relatively mild hemorrhagic fever because it kills only 5%, massive doses of ascorbate would certainly prevent almost all these deaths.  The massive doses of ascorbate neutralize the free radical toxicity that cause the damage in these diseases and suppress the immune system.  If one understands the mechanism behind the increased tolerance to ascorbic acid described in my paper, Viatmin C, Titrating to Bowel Tolerance, Anascorbemia, and Acute Induced Scurvy, one will see that these toxic hemorrhagic fevers will cause a state of acute induced scurvy.  Without vitamin C the collagen fibers break down and are not replaced and massive hemorrhage results.  This scurvy can be easily proven by testing the serum levels of vitamin C.  When these levels are seen to be zero or almost zero, the treatment will be obvious.  The treatment would be similar to that described for the bird flu. 

   

• The major mechanism behind the morbidity and mortality of all infectious diseases is free radicals.  These free radicals can be neutralized by massive doses of ascorbate.  This is why massive doses of ascorbate given properly will ameliorate or cure all infectious diseases.  Serum levels of vitamin C should be measured in all patients with infectious diseases.  When the zero or near zero levels of vitamin C are detected, treatment should not be limited to nutritional levels of vitamin C but massive doses should be used to neutralize all the free readicals.

• More serious hemorrhagic fevers, such as Ebola, will require higher doses.
