Post Sinus/Gum Infection
Hi

I am a 43 year old female that has been suffering from Chronic Sinusitis for over a year related to a tooth extraction. Rheumatoid Arthritis for 2 years now.

Breaking it down:

10 years ago had a crown. Over 10 years I kept telling a dentist my crown was not fitting right and I was grinding as a result. I guess he got tired of me complaining because he finally told me that it was in my head and I needed to get use to it. I saw one other dentist who refused to remove it. I got use to the improper fit after years. Last year I was told the crown was bad and I needed an extraction because I had a infection. The dentist at the time suggested that I consider implants. She was unable to do the implants and told me that she would prefer to have the implant dentist do the extraction at the same time. She started me on a round of antibiotics.

I went to a Dentist recommended my 9 news Tom Martino, so I head off for consultation. He agreed on the extraction and went over implants with me. The next week I had a extraction, and while he was there he said I did not have enough bone and he needed to do a bone graft. He used bovine. I was sent home with pain meds. That night I was in severe pain, more than I figured was normal. I was unable to contact him, and the next day his office was closed. That morning I woke up with a huge black eye and my face was really swollen. I decided to go to another dentist to see if I was okay.

This dentist was appalled at the work and had to remove some of the graft because the infection was just pouring out. He said that I had a small hole in my sinus and it would close on its own. I have seen other dentist who say the hole is closed. I was also informed that the tooth beside the extraction was knocked loose and also the one beside that one. He was not sure he could save that tooth but felt certain the other tooth would be okay. The root was exposed but he wanted to wait. The second tooth did end up having to be extracted-and he sent me to an oral surgeon for that one. The other tooth had a root canal and crown last month.

He treated me a few weeks, and continued the antibiotics with some mouth rinses also. I have always had a sinus issue but never to the extent I was starting to experience. I had migraines and sinus infection and I had drainage going into my mouth. I have seen several dentist that all say the extraction holes and the hole in my sinus is closed. Yet, I STILL have drainage. So now I am told I am crazy again. I OBVIOUSLY opted out of implants and wanted a partial for the back but the dang dentist now says I need another crown in the back because I have stress fractures from grinding. I am SICK of Dentists and do not trust one. My problem is I am sick. I have been to the doctor and have been on antibiotics for almost a year. I started researching and came across the Vitamin C Foundation. I started out taking 15gams right off the bat, then realized I was supposed to be taking every two hours. I now take 10 grams every two 2 hour

e

I have seen no results on the Rheumatoid. I also take Vitamin E, A, D, and lysine as well as Mag/Calcium. I take about 16,000iu of A, 10,000 of D3, and around 800 iu of E. I added selenium also. I have taken as much as 75grams of Vitamin C a day and it takes me almost 50 to get to bowel intolerance.

I am still having constant sinus issues. I suspect but could be wrong-the bone graft is still making me sick. I know the dentist tried to take some out. The problem is my gum in that area is still sore and I still taste infection. I have been told I am wrong by all the dentist according to their xrays. I started using a sinus rinse with vitamin C and baking soda with distilled water. It has done amazing things for me as far as breathing through my nose. I have a polyp that is gradually disappearing.

I went out and bought the ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freights. I am thinking I need to try the liposomal Vitamin C. Do you believe this is what I need?
Also if it is the graft, am I able to kill the infection without having to have the bone graft taken out?
Thanks
Kristine

In addition to what you are already doing, have you considered microcurrents
to assist getting rid of some of your pain and herpes issues? If you are interested,
check out the info at microelectricitygermkiller, which is one of yahoo's groups.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not sure I could pull that off without inflicting more pain on myself.

hranch, get the larger ultrasonic cleaner with the heater.

Blend 1 tablespoon of ascorbic acid powder with 3 tablespoons of dry lecithin granules in 2 cups of water in a blender.

Pour in ultrasonic cleaner, turn the heat on, cycle 450 seconds - twice.

Store in the fridge.

I had already bought the smaller one. Does this matter? I actually have the soy lecithin in the fridge for the recommended 2 hours. There were two recipes I found for this. I went with this link http://www.pdazzler.com/archives/62
Do you think its a good source?

Well, Dr Drysbach[sp?] said heat opens up the liposomes. So that's why I always use the heater. That's just me. [shrug]

(I K.O.ed a nasty bug with this protocol without hitting bowel tolerance)

Your lecithin should be dry granules as well. I suppose the Brooks and Bradley recipe may be O.K. without heat.

The genital herpes was passed along to me 12 years from my hubby. He never has an breakout and I have one every month or so. I do not handle stress well so I am told this is what is causing them. When I started taking the 10 grams I had an outbreak and immediately saw the blister clear up within a day. It was amazing.

All your reported "problems" generally require large amounts of ascorbate (vitamin C), which explains your very high bowel tolerance. The liposomal approach is not a bad idea, as an adjunct, as it should raise blood levels like an IV. Let us know what improvements you experience.

There are dentists who monitor the forum who may wish to comment on your dental experience. It sounds like your chronic sinusitis is caused by the "hole", but we do know that extended use of antihistamines can lead to chronic sinusitis. (The theory is that mucous is being created to eliminate some perceived toxin in your sinus. When drugs dry the sinus, these toxins become imbedded, creating the chronic problem.)

You might experiment with a sodium ascorbate (vitamin C) nasal spray, as this may help heal and clean any wounds causing the sinusitis. Mix some sodium ascorbate with water or saline, and put it in a spray bottle. (For colds, it is estimated this raises the level of vitamin C in the sinuses a thousand times over what can be achieved with oral vitamin C.)

With all those antibiotics, I hope you are also taking a good probiotic to replenish the friendly flora (and it is probably a good idea to take vitamin K (K1 and/or K2). And you mentioned rinsing with vitamin C and baking soda - or you could rinse with sodium ascorbate. But have you considered rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, diluted, to attack the infections in your mouth?

My mother had rheumatoid arthritis, which she arrested but never conquered. It was her research trying to beat RA that also led her to vitamin C through Linus Pauling. She felt C provided the most relief :D

Hranch,

I had Chronic Sinusitis since 1995 and the thing that finally got rid of it was my Home made Lyposomal C.

Yes I am taking a probiotic also. I do rinse also with Hydrogen Peroxide. The Vitamin C helps my arthritis the first 15-20 minutes of taking it but then it seems I have another flare up. I get temporary relief of sinus issues too for about a hour and then I am back to the same. It is just getting old having migraines and constant pain in my cheeks.

First off, the most common cause of migraines is magnesium deficiency. You can get Doctors Best High absorption magnesium from vitacost.com. It is made from Albion Labs and is the best. Most sinus infections have a fungal component to them so what would help is fenugreek and Thyme, again avail. from vitacost.com. I'll comment on dental issues later after I am through w/ patients.

Some dentists do a poor job at evaluating occlusion. First dentist should have adjusted bite on crown and pergaps adjacent teeth. Improper bite can lead to death of nerve and subsequent root canal or ext.

Sometimes bone grafts will not work if infection got into bone and was not ground out.

as for as the drainage you either have communication w/ the sinus or a bad fungal infecton in the sinus, especially since you have been on antibiotics for a year. Fenugreek helps the sinuses drain, and thyme is an antifungal so will help this. vit c acts as an antihistamine, and even garlic is antifungal. If there is a hole in the sinus it can be checked by pinching the nose shut and seeing if any air comes into the mouth when gently lbowing air aginst the closed nose. If a communication, can be readily closed, sinuses heal very well.

Bovine bone breaks down readily so if it has been more than 4 months none of it should still be in the site.

I will be happy to answer any specific questions.

I tried pinching the nose and feeling for in air in the mouth and I did not feel any. I have a hard time getting my sinus to drain even though I feel drainage in my mouth. I do sinus rinses and get a temporary clearing for 5 minutes. I will purchase the Mag and Fenugreek and Thyme asap!!!! Thank you for your response.

It should be done by the dentist. The hole might be too small for you to detect. If it is a hole that you cannot detect it should close in time.

Post Re: Sinus/Gum Infection
I did get the Thyme, Fenugreek, and Mag. I was able to relieve the migraine. Two nights ago I started rubbing my cheeks (sinus areas) and the next morning I noticed my cheeks and upper jaw bone (where the 2 extractions and bone graft) had white ulcers all over it. I first thought maybe I had bitten my cheek during the night but remembered I have no upper teeth in that area. I am running a low grade temp and I have muscle knots that are causing my arms to be sore, and sciatic nerve to hurt. The sciatic pain went away via massage. My RA has been crazy with whatever is going on. I am a little scared that maybe the bone is infected where the graft was. I called a oral surgeon that was recommended but he is not in until next week. If this is a infection in the bone what kind of treatment will help? I am still doing the Vitamin C along with the rest of the vitamins. I suspect this infection is the cause of my muscle spasms & fever. I am rinsing with hydrogen peroxide also. I am also putting calcium ascorbate on the ulcers and feel it pulling out some type of drainage. However the upper gum is still swollen. Is there anything else I should be taking until I can meet with the oral surgeon?

Thanks
Kristine
