Mysterious case of the disappearing posts on this website
It's been a pet peeve of mine on this website that previous postings by members here keep disappearing all the time. The excuse I've heard from the moderators is that they can't afford to store so much text data. Really? This excuse might have had a little bit of credibility in 1977 or so, but this is 2013 for crying out loud
I've posted before to ask the moderator to fix this situation, but for whatever reason nothing much has changed since then. At least as far as I can tell.
I've decided to explore this issue further by keeping track of which posts are kept and which ones are disappearing. I'd like to find the criteria, if any, for which posts disappear and which ones don't. Dear readers, I welcome any comments or ideas you may have for finding how this website discards posts.
For example, when I searched my own username (VanCanada) I found the following.
Date search was made : Total posts shown under one's username : Total posts shown when one searches one's username
2013
Jan. 10 : 569 - 303 = 266 missing posts
Feb. 03 : 580 - 309 = 271 missing
Feb. 10 : 583 - 311 = 271 missing
Feb. 23 : 583 - 303 = 280 missing
Mar. 04 : 595 - 313 = 282 missing

Mysterious case of the disappearing posts on our website
I can make several suggestions.
Maybe the easiest would be to occasionally compare the number of posts shown below your username (on the left side of every webpage that has one of your posts) on a certain day with the number that show up when you make a search of your username in the "Author" search box. I suggest you do this once every week or every month (however long it takes you to make a few posts).
You would start by clicking on the "Search" link near the top of every page (when you are logged in). Then do a search of your username.
I'm missing over 280 posts and the number keeps growing. And this is the kind of leadership we in the Vitamin C community find acceptable? I find striking parallels between Tim Bolen's March 3rd, 2013 article about the Autism movement's leadership and the Vitamin C community leadership. But I digress. That's a topic for another (probably very short-lived) thread
Let's start with the evidence and see where it takes us, shall we? This is starting to get fun. And if it ain't merely a pipe dream of mine, maybe Tim Bolen will do an article about this one day. What do you think dear reader?
Have a great day everyone. I sincerely wish that your ascorbate is keeping you in the best of health.

Van, with all due respect.
Shut up.
He's already said the system doesn't auto-archive. It deletes stuff automatically after a certain amount of time.
Grow up and get a life.
